It really depends on the day. I normally play casinos online, something like Chances are 50/50 but at least it is not a scam website.

You may notice Slink that there are no Casino ads on this website for that very reason, you may as well just do the lottery.

    Dunno where I stand.
I'm not an impulsive gambler, when it comes to sports betting I really need to think it through.

But I've become more impulsive the more I've got into crypto, I think the reason for that is that with crypto you never lose the lot but can and I have lost hell of a lot, so it can make you a bit blase.

When It's shit or bust I am a lot more cautious.

Well after at least 7 years of making a profit, I can't seem to do fuck all right since lockdown and I'm firmly in the B section for this year- losing. Wish I could put my finger on why but I can't. I mostly back horses every day - and young lightly raced horses at that so I suspect it may be something to do with everyone putting out their higher class horses at the same time due to having to hold back for three months, combined with the new system for giving them a handicap mark which means that they have fewer runs and less evidence to base their initial assessments on.

Fingers crossed it's just a lockdown issue and my magic will return but I'm a serial loser on the football and the football season is about to start again so 2020 is looking like a bid red blob on my record.

Actually, what am I thinking, make that at least 11 years. It was either 2008 or 2004 that I last made a loss. And that includes laying Leicester to win the Prem for a lot of money and losing a lot when Liverpool fucked it up that time. Happy days

Bit of a shitty start to the season and going back to last January when your trying to make a profit over a year long betting, this is after a sizeable win in September on the golf, which put me ahead, but now,im back down mid November.
Football - poor with virtually few returns, even from mainly double and treble betting.
Horse Racing - dreadful, with only a couple of minor returns from multiple bets.Singles virtually nothing.
Darts - some painful loses from players giving up some goods leads.
Golf - Im well in profit , after a sizeble winner, and some place money, but that has been wiped out by the other sports.Time to slow it down and reasses were my betting is going come the start of January.

Yeah, always the best thing to do to just take the foot off the pedal and, as you say, reassess. When I'm going through a particularly bad patch (two so far this year) I cut back all the shite I'm not 100% convinced are good bets at good value and I draw down my stakes to a couple of quid a time and then build up from there.

Time out taken, watching sport without betting hes been rather odd,but a blessing for me.With Cheltenham coming up its a good/bad time to resumme betting , theres £40 in a bet365 account and £40 in a betfair account, then I can reasses again.Right now im at C minus.

Me too mate, had a dreadful February. Ended January level but took a big hit in Feb and I'm scaling down bets for the next two weeks. Oddly, I normally make a profit at Cheltenham which doesn't make any sense at all - I think it's mainly a couple of big price winners and extra place offers that pull me through but obviously I will still go into it expecting to lose.

After a decent few months on the football betting (very unusual for me) I'm back to giving money away so I have stopped that as well.

Scaling down seems the best answer ONEDUNME.Football singles is best for me right now,Golf seems ok as winners even place money keeps your head above water,Darts im going to avoid for now,as I have no plan, doesnt seem to be a market were there is little to no value in the odds, place money is hard to get as your player has to make the final.Horse racing well at my level of know how is a no no,even with all the info, guides and tips outthere,so the odd bet if im having a good month,if not another to avoid.

That's the idea when things aren't going right, stick with what you know is most likely to get you a bit back and dump the ones that are most risky and see how things go. Scaling down is best for my particular mentality as it would drive me mad to go cold turkey only to see five winners go in on the trot :lol At least this way I do get some satisfaction if that happens.

You've hit the nail on the head with the words "I have no plan". That's the key for me. I have many systems and some of them are on bigger priced horses so I know for a fact that I'm going to have a longer losing streak than on shorter prices so I don't consider them as, for example, 20 separate bets. Instead, I lump them together and think of them as one bet divided into different sections and I put a designated amount to one side to cover that particular strand of my betting.

Everyone is different but I think it's important to understand your betting phyche. If some people found a magic lamp and were GUARANTEED one bet a day that was absolute value, they would just bet that one bet per day and they'd end up making a profit. Not me:lol. I would have to have a little bit here and there for interest on a football match, or have a look at the form book to try and solve the puzzle of an upcoming handicap race. I know it's an addiction but it's my hobby and I love it. Most years it costs me less than it would for a football season ticket and going to the football every second week. Most years I actually make a profit. Then there are the inevitable bad times and I just have to dig the old discipline out of the bottom drawer and give it a good dust down and be a bit more structured until the tide turns. It usually does. Probably because I'm more focussed. It's easy to chuck the odd random bet on when you're in profit whereas you might think twice about it when you're not.

Anyway - good luck and I hope the tide turns for both of us soon:thumb

Lockdown football has been very unpredictable and like some of you I've scaled down my bets but the last 12 months have been very poor for me .
To add insult to injury , this is the first year in 10 that I've not backed Wales to win the grand slam and win the six nations rugby. Wales' performances in the Autumn were very poor . The stakes through the last few years have varied dependent on my faith in the team but to have no faith when the luck is with them is very frustrating . some of my better winning years have been bolstered by my six nations rugby winnings.
I have no words to explain my total stupidity, and it really hurts.
I usually start a six nations thread but my negativity this year has resulted in my lethargy,

Enjoyed reading your post ODM , for me youve got your gambling/hobby cornered in the fact you make a profit most years, you cant do more than that in my eyes.
Systems ive never done or followed really unless its maybe the odd one on the forum. Its that long losing streak that always comes with them, and they do stop you from finding winners as you have already preselected your pick. But you managed to combine two systems into one,so one carries the other through the losing streaks makes good sense.
One bet a day man,not for me either.I get carried away with my betting all the time and have no discipline,no matter how i bet, so i soon find a way of clearing out my betting account. If i recover loses(not that i keep a record, but can judge how much ive lost) with a decent run, instead pulling up the reins so to speak,I give it all back again. If I start well and rein back so i can keep the year to at least no profit and finish level ,but no,i just keep gambling the losers start coming in and were back deposting again, and thats the cycle my betting takes over the years.Having a level or loss year or dare I say it a profitable year, would at least be a start for me.Yes lets hope 2021 is a profitable one for everyone on the forum.

When I say "systems", it's probably a bit misleading. They aren't your "back the outsider in a 3 runner race" or "Back the top weight in a 2 mile handicap" type systems. They mostly aren't actually systems at all but more like staking plans and it's purely so that I can see my profit and losses split down so that my 10/1 plus each way bets are measured separately to my "horses at around 6/4" bets so that I don't fool myself that I'm doing OK in one type of bet when, in reality, it's being subsidised by a couple of freak 10/1 winners.

For example, I spend a lot of time watching flat races in the spring and looking at young horses with a view to following them throughout the season where I think they may be better than early performances (and often into seasons after that). This is by far my most successful "system" and I keep the profit and loss figures for these bets separate because I need to know that I'm making a profit doing it - otherwise I'm wasting my time. Last year this one let me down and I'm convinced it was because everyone had to just bung their horses in any race they could get them in due to Covid, rather than the normal spread of ability that you would normally get early in the flat season.

I also have a staking plan for shorties (even money to 2/1 type prices) which can't make a profit out of donkeys but which I've found over the years has certainly made the money go further when encountering a losing streak. I shared this one with Punter last year but I fear that he may have fallen asleep reading through it :lol. It is a boring read initially I have to admit and probably looks more complicated than it is on first read but I can guarantee that it becomes second nature after a few goes and, as I say, it extended many a betting bank for me for far longer than it probably should have lasted.

I don't know if you're a backer of horses at that price. I know a lot of people who aren't but my view is that if I can back myself to get two winners out of five at average odds of anything over 6/4, I can make a profit and if I get four out of five wrong then I don't fucking deserve to be making any money:lol. If you do happen to fancy injecting at least a little bit of discipline into your betting Basher (or you happen to be an insomniac looking for a cure) then drop me a PM and I'll send you the shit that I sent Punter.
